Introducing our newest collection of wool felt trivets — where modern design meets global impact. Handmade in our Fair Trade-certified workshop in Nepal using upcycled wool from sweater production in New Zealand, these pieces are proof that sustainability can be beautiful, practical, and powerful.
Upcycled Wool with a Second Life
Rather than sending manufacturing waste to landfills, we give discarded wool a second life. The wool we use is collected as leftover fiber from New Zealand’s premium sweater industry — known for producing some of the softest and highest-quality wool in the world. These fibers are then hand-felted by skilled artisans in Nepal, creating dense, durable trivets that are as functional as they are artful.
Handmade with Purpose
Each trivet is:
-
Hand-felted from 100% wool
-
Fair Trade made in Nepal, supporting ethical employment and economic empowerment
-
Designed with a clean, modern aesthetic to complement your kitchen or dining space
No two are exactly alike — and that’s part of the charm.
Why Wool? Nature’s Wonder Fiber
Wool is naturally:
-
Stain-resistant
-
Odor-resistant
-
Heat-tolerant
-
Biodegradable
That means these trivets don’t just perform — they also return to the earth when their job is done.
Can You Compost Wool? Yes — Here's How.
When your wool felt trivet has reached the end of its long life (which won’t be anytime soon), it can go into your home compost pile — but we wouldn't recommend using a home composter, as we don't have full testing results on this method.
To compost your wool:
-
Cut it into small pieces to speed up decomposition.
-
Add to a green-rich compost pile with food scraps, leaves, and yard waste
-
Wool adds slow-releasing nitrogen and keratin to the soil.
-
Be patient: wool takes 6 months to 2 years to break down fully, but the payoff is nutrient-rich soil with zero waste.
Care & Use Instructions
These trivets are made to last, but a little care goes a long way:
• Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap
• Do not machine wash or tumble dry
• Air dry flat if needed
• Keep away from open flames and prolonged direct heat
• Use only on dry surfaces
⚠️ While wool tolerates heat well, misuse or extreme temperatures can damage surfaces or cause burns. Use with care — we are not liable for damage resulting from improper use.
